Human’s value between illusion and reality

In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Human being in the materialists’ point of view:

Human being is nothing but a fistful of clay from the ground according to materialists, straying people, and those who are lost. According to their point of view, man was created from the earth, he walks on it, nourishes on it, and the end he will be buried inside it, hence, he/she is nothing but a lump of flesh, blood, bones, nerves, systems, cells, and brain. They even believe that thinking is nothing but materials that are secreted by the brain exactly like the bile secreted by gallbladder, or like the urine that is secreted by kidneys, not to mention that man has neither superiority nor importance over other creatures (according to them), but the human race is one of other species just like bugs, reptiles, and monkeys, and it is the outcome of long-term evolution through time. Better yet, some of materialistic scientists broke down the human body to its essential components and came up with the following:
In human body there is enough fat to make seven soap bars.
Enough lead to make seven pencils.
Enough phosphor to make a hundred and twenty match’s sticks.
Enough iron to make one medium size nail.
Enough calcium to whiten hen’s house.
Enough sulfur to tan a dead dog’s skin.
And Sixteen gallons of water.
Hence, accordingly, man is worth only two dollars, and as some people say: by their opposites, things’ values are known. This is how materialists look at the human being.

Human being in the Creator’s Sight:

• The first ranked creature
• The most honored creature
• Allah molded human in best of shapes, honored him/her in best of honoring, formed him/her in the best good looking, created him/her by His Hand, and breathed His soul into him/her.
• Allah asked the angels to prostrate to human.
• He Bestowed human with knowledge and will.
• He Made him/her His vicegerent on earth.
• He Made him/her the center of the universe.
• He subjugated the heavens and earth to human out of honoring and acquantance
• He bestowed human with apparent and hidden boons.
• The entire world is created to serve human who is created to worship Allah.
It was mentioned in some Qudsi Hadiths:

O, son of Adam, I created everything in this universe, so don’t bother yourself, and I created you to worship Me so don’t play around, and don’t be consumed in what I granted you and forget about what I ordered you, O, son of Adam, if you seek Me you will find Me, and when you find Me you will find everything else, and if you miss Me you will miss everything else, and I Am more beloved to you than everything else

Allah the Almighty said in the noble Quran:

(Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)], Has taught man that which he knew not)

[Al Alaq, 96: 1-5]

Human is the first ranked creature, and Allah is his Lord. The close connection between man and Allah, and between a man and another human being were mentioned in so many Ayahs (verses) in the noble Quran, which indicates that human being is the closest creature to Allah.
Dear brothers, this closeness puts down every myth in the respect of priesthood which doesn’t exist in Islam, and it shows that there is no middlemen, no religion’s Mercenaries, and no chamberlains on the wide gates of Allah’s Mercy.

(And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.)

[Al Baqarah, 2:186]

There are no barriers between you and Allah:

(And to Allah belong the east and the west, so wherever you turn yourselves or your faces there is the Face of Allah (and He is High above, over His Throne). Surely! Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knowing.)

[Al Baqarah, 2:115]

And in Surat Al Mujadalah, Allah the Almighty says:

(Have you not seen that Allah knows whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth? There is no Najwa (secret counsel) of three, but He is their fourth (with His Knowledge, while He Himself is over the Throne, over the seventh heaven), nor of five but He is their sixth (with His Knowledge), not of less than that or more, but He is with them (with His Knowledge) wheresoever they may be; and afterwards on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything.)

[Al Mujadalah, 58:7]

In a Qudsi Hadith, the Prophet PBUH said that Allah says:

If my servant draws near to Me a span of a hand length, I draw near to him an arm’s length, and if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw near to him a fathom’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.”

[Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmizi, Ibn Majah, and Ahmad]

This is the rank of human being in the Sight of Allah, as he/she is the closest creature to Him, whereas the rank of human comparing with the heavenly creatures is as Allah said:

(So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him.)

[Al Hijr, 15:29]

Allah subjected the entire world to the best interest of human, Allah said:

(See you not (O men) that Allah has subjected for you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and has completed and perfected His Graces upon you, (both) apparent (i.e Islamic Monotheism, and the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks, etc.) and hidden [i.e. One's Faith in Allah (of Islamic Monotheism) knowledge, wisdom, guidance for doing righteous deeds, and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise, etc.]? Yet of mankind is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or a Book giving light!)

[Luqman, 31:20]

(Allah it is He Who has subjected to you the sea, that ships may sail through it by His Command, and that you may seek of His Bounty, and that you may be thankful,)

[Al Jathiyah, 45:12]

(And has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth; it is all as a favour and kindness from Him. Verily, in it are signs for a people who think deeply.)

[Surat Al Jathiyah, 45:13]

Another Ayah:

(And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam, and We have carried them on land and sea, and have provided them with At-Taiyibat (lawful good things), and have preferred them above many of those whom We have created with a marked preference.)

[Al Israa, 17: 62]

Another Ayah:

(Allah is He Who has created the heavens and the earth and sends down water (rain) from the sky, and thereby brought forth fruits as provision for you; and He has made the ships to be of service to you, that they may sail through the sea by His Command; and He has made rivers (also) to be of service to you. And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you; and He has made the night and the day, to be of service to you. And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them. Verily! Man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer, – a disbeliever (an extreme ingrate, denies Allah’s Blessings by disbelief, and by worshipping others besides Allah, and by disobeying Allah and His Prophet Muhammad).)

[Ibrahim, 14:32-34]

The Divine breath in human which is part of Allah’s Rooh (entity) qualified mankind to be Allah’s vicegerent on earth, and prepared them to bear the huge trust which is the trust of the Divine assignment, Allah said:

(Truly, We did offer Al-Amanah (the trust or moral responsibility or honesty and all the duties which Allah has ordained) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and were afraid of it (i.e. afraid of Allah’s Torment). But man bore it. Verily, he was unjust (to himself) and ignorant (of its results).)

[Al Ahzab, 33:72]

Allah created mankind like this, as He bestowed him/her the mind and the freedom of choice, Allah said:

(And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds). And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin).)

[As-Shams, 91:7-11]

This Nafs (Mankind’s soul) knows when it is on the right path and knows when it is on the wrong path:

Allah grants mankind the freedom of choice, Allah said:

(And say: “The truth is from your Lord.” Then whosoever wills, let him believe, and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. Verily, We have prepared for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them (disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). And if they ask for help (relief, water, etc.) they will be granted water like boiling oil, that will scald their faces. Terrible the drink, and an evil Murtafaqa (dwelling, resting place, etc.)!)

[Al Kahf, 18:29]

Human being in Islam:

Dear brothers, man is exalted because of Islam, as the latter considers him/her as a body, soul, mind, heart, will, conscious, descending lusts, and ascending sentiments, not to mention that Islam does not chain up human, nor does Islam shackle him/her, Islam does not prohibit good food, nor does Islam hinder goodness from him/her, and Islam protects human from being manipulated by religion’s mongers, Allah the Almighty said:

(O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?)

[Al Infitar, 82:6]

Abu Bakr AL-Arabi said: “Allah the Almighty bestowed man with superiority over other creatures, that is because Allah the Almighty created man to be alive, knowledgeable, capable, speaking creature, hearing creature, seeing creature, wise, and provident creature.”
Imam Al Ghazali said:
“The closeness of man to his Lord is because he attained the manners he was ordered with by Allah, and that is why it has been said: attain Divine manners.”
Allah ordered the human being to seek knowledge, to be charitable, to be reverent, to be kind, to be good to others, to be merciful to other creatures, to offer advice to them, to guide them to righteousness, and to hinder them from falseness, and these are some of the duties of Allah’s representative on earth (human being), the Prophet PBUH said:

Allah the Exalted has said: ‘I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (prayer or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him. When I love him I become his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks (something) from Me, I give him, and if he asks My Protection (refuge), I protect him

[Bukhari]

Ibn Al Qayem said:
“be aware that Allah has chosen the human being among all creatures by dignifying, choosing, and honoring, and He has created him/her for Himself and has subjugated everything to him/her. Allah has facilitated to the human to get to know Him, to love him, and to be close to Him, and He has bestowed the human being with things that is not available to other creatures, such as subjugating the heavens and the earth and what is in between, even angels are at man’s disposal, as they guard him in his sleep and in his awake, in his traveling and in his settling, not to mention that Allah has descended for him His books and His messengers, in addition, He has addressed him, hence, man is so important to Allah unlike other creatures.”
Does man know his value?
Does man know that he is the first creature in value?
Does man know that Allah has created him for His Divine entity?
Does man know his mission in this worldly life?
Does man know that Allah has created him for a paradise of the width of heavens and earth?
When man turns away from religion, he will be contemning himself, whereas, when man abides by the religion, he will be aware of his value in the Ssight of Allah the Almighty.

When human knows his value he recognizes the followings:

According to Quran, human being:

• wasn’t created aimlessly
• wasn’t neglected
• was created for a purpose and wisdom
• wasn’t created to be self-centered
• wasn’t created to be a slave of anything in this entire world.
• wasn’t created to live for satisfying his desires like animals.
• wasn’t created to live his life then die, eaten by worms, and lose his existance by death.

When human knows his value he feels the following:

When human appreciates his value in the Sight of Allah, his rank among heavenly creatures, and his leading position in this world, he will get in touch with the powerful creature within, and will overestimate his soul because he is proud enough to be considered on Allah’s account, to be connected to the whole existence of the world, and consequently will live with pride. These are some of the effects of faith on the soul. The believer shouldn’t humiliate himself, it was said:
“Seek your needs with self-restraint, as matters are decreed.”
“Whoever cringes in front of the rich will lose two third of his religion.”
Hence, a human being should live proudly, holding his head up high, disdaining injustice, rebellious in facing humiliation, and very far from triviality, nonexistence, and aimless life.
Dear brothers, when man believes that he/she is the vicegerent of Allah on earth, and His representative in establishing rightness, achieving prosperity, and spreading goodness, at that moment, he will feel that the entire world is at his disposal, the angels are guarding him, Allah is supporting him, and that he is in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqun (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr As-Siddiq), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are!
The real believer knows for sure that his existence is not over because of death, which is only a stop in his long journey, and he is sure that his eternal dwelling will not end up in the grave, as the grave is only a phase from which he/she will break forth to a Paradise of the width of heavens and earth, Allah the Almighty said:

(The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you, Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die). Nay! You shall come to know! Again, Nay! You shall come to know! Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things) Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)! And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight! Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)! )

[At-Takathur, 102:1-8]

Grave is a passage to another life, not a place to dwell in for eternity, hence, real believer knows for sure that his/her existence won’t be ceased by death, and that his/her destination won’t be reached in grave, a believer knows that he/she was created to live for eternity that doesn’t cease or end.

The big difference between the two feelings:

There is a big difference between the two aspects: firstly, the aspect of human in the eyes of the disbeliever, as human, accordingly, is only a talking animal, a thinking animal, an animal of the highest rank on the scale of evolution, a creature with no roots, a creature of no continuity, and his connection with the entire world is no different than the connection of monkeys with it. Secondly, the aspect of those who consider human as the first ranked creature, the most honored creature, the charged creature, the creature whom was bestowed upon with boons by his Creator, bestowed upon with guidance, bestowed upon with sustenance, and was created for Allah Who subjugated the entire world to him.
When man knows his value in the sight of the Oneness, and the Dayyan (the Judge) he will be overwhelmed with energy that is enough to pull him off his cocoon to break forth to the wide universe in order to bring his existence into effect, to proselytize to Allah the Almighty, to be the servant of the truth, and to be the reason of people’s guidance. Dear brothers, it has been said: “He who knows his Lord knows himself”, in addition, Allah has not given any creature the upper hand over the human being:

(All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness).” He said: “I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship, -With Him (Allah). So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. “I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth). “So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things.)

[Hud, 11:54-57]

When one knows his real value as a human, he will recite this Ayah:

(And to Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him (O Muhammad) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do.)

[Hud, 11:123]

When one appreciates his real value as a human, he will recite this Ayah:

(No calamity befalls, but with the Leave [i.e. decision and Qadar (Divine Preordainments)] of Allah, and whosoever believes in Allah, He guides his heart [to the true Faith with certainty, i.e. what has befallen him was already written for him by Allah from the Qadar (Divine Preordainments)], and Allah is the All-Knower of everything.)

[At-Taghabun, 64:11]

Every Ayah in the Quran, which man recites, fills his/her heart with serenity, security, might, and dignity, not to mention that he/she will lead a life so much different from the life that materialists lead.

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds
